Columbia University: Sustainable Saddle River County Park
Green Ridgewood worked with a team of graduate students from Columbia University's Master of Science in Sustainability Management Program during the summer of 2025, focusing on reimagining Bergen County's Saddle River County Park as a resilient, sustainable and accessible green urban space. Among the team's conclusions: Bergen County is the number one most vulnerable county in the United States for flooding, with more than $72 billion at risk.

Columbia University: Resilient Ridgewood
Eleven graduate students from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) worked with Green Ridgewood for their “capstone” project during the spring 2024 semester. The students voted on a range of potential projects, and Ridgewood was voted the most popular project to work on. The students focused their efforts on three key areas:
- Assist the Village in developing innovative strategies to minimize flooding.
- Propose a long-term decarbonization plan for the Village.
- Develop a sustainability road map to implement the recommendations on the above topics and propose strategies related to the challenges and opportunities that exist for Ridgewood.
