How do I become a member of the PTC Board in the future?
All parents/guardians of Ridgewood Students are encouraged to participate in the PTC. Each year board members are voted in during the May general meeting to serve for the following school year(s). Individuals interested in joining the board are encouraged to volunteer for a role at the PTC meeting in April or speak to the volunteer coordinator.
The PTC President presides at all meetings of PTC and the Executive Committee, is a member ex-officio of all committees, and performs other duties assigned by the PTC or the Executive Committee.
Vice President (vacant for 2016-2017)
The Vice President serves as a support to the President when they are unavailable. It is a flexible position with the ability to manage projects and concerns that are not permanently assigned to other board members.
The Treasurer receives all monies of the PTC, keeps an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, pays out funds only as authorized by this PTC, and presents a statement of account at every monthly business meeting of this PTC and at other times when requested by the President or the Executive Committee. The Treasurer also prepares records for review by the Executive Committee at its August meeting, establishes and maintains checking accounts or other accounts as necessary, and writes checks on behalf of the PTC in accordance with PTC procedures. Additionally, the Treasurer makes the accounts available at the end of the fiscal year for examination by an auditor or auditing committee. The Treasurer may perform other duties as needed.
The Secretary keeps an accurate record of all meetings of the PTC and Executive Committee and posts minutes to the PTC website, takes attendance, and performs other duties as needed.
The Parliamentarian Is available at the monthly business meetings of the PTC to settle any questions regarding parliamentary law or procedure, acts as an aide to the President, and performs the duties of the President’s office in the absence of the President and Vice President, keeps meetings of the PTC and Executive Committee running on time and in an orderly fashion. The Parliamentarian also oversees the election of new officers by notifying the school community when nominations for PTC Officer and Volunteer Coordinator positions are being collected and creating the ballot used by PTC members to vote for new officers. The Parliamentarian may perform other duties as assigned.
Volunteer Coordinator (2-person team consisting of Director of Classroom Volunteers & Volunteer Support and Director of Activities)
The Volunteer Coordinators recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist members of the Ridgewood Staff and the PTC. This includes recruiting at least one Classroom Coordinator for each of the academic classes and acting as liaisons for those Coordinators, as well as recruiting Activity Chairs and overseeing the operation of the PTC’s Committees. The Volunteer Coordinators also oversee the school’s online volunteer management software.
Community Liaisons (2-person team)
The Community Liaisons coordinate online management of PTC social media to communicate with the Ridgewood parent community throughout the year, manage and update the PTC website, oversee all corporate fundraising and grants, and coordinate and oversee all online Ridgewood PTC social media presence.
