A new school year begins and the Ridgewood Parent Teacher Cooperative (PTC) organization would like to welcome new families to our community and extend a warm welcome to those families who are returning. The Ridgewood PTC is the parent teacher organization at Ridgewood. Anyone who has a child enrolled at Ridgewood is automatically a member of PTC (it’s FREE) and has a vote.
The education of our children is a joint project between the school and parents. The teachers and staff are involved with our children in the classroom daily. PTC is responsible for coordinating parent and volunteer participation and fundraising (annual Fall Jog-a-thon!) to support the numerous enrichment programs and community events held at Ridgewood. Some of these programs include Art Literacy, Book Fair, Fourth Grade Oregon Trail Overnight Experience, Science Festival, Track Program, Vision Screening, Picture Day, Room Parents, and School Roster. Also, after school enrichment classes are offered based on interest.
1. When does the PTC meet?
Generally, the PTC meets the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:00pm in the library. Free on-site childcare is provided during the PTC meeting for those parents who need to bring their children with them. Please check the events calendar to learn when we’re having our next meeting. We hope you’ll join us!
2. Does the PTC have any specific goals for the ’15-’16 school year?
Details coming soon.
3. Do I have to pay to be a member of the PTC?
No, it’s FREE! You are automatically a member of the PTC if you have a child attending Ridgewood.
4. How can I become a board member?
All parents/guardians of Ridgewood Students are encouraged to participate in the PTC. Each year board members are voted in during the May general meeting to serve for the following school year(s). Individuals interested in joining the board are encouraged to volunteer for a role at the PTC meeting in April or speak to the volunteer coordinator.
6. Where can I find the PTC by-laws?
You can review them here.
