There are lots of opportunities to help generate funds for the Ridgewood PTC and our students (and we are always looking for more).
Would you like to get involved with one of the programs below? If yes, please contact the PTC.
This is our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year. The past couple of years we have raised more than $50k annually to benefit Ridgewood students. All Ridgewood students participate in this fun event on the Ridgewood School track. The jog-a-thon is usually held on a Friday in early October. Prior to the jog-a-thon, students are provided with envelopes to collect pledges. This is the MAJOR PTC fundraiser for the school year. On the day of the event, students run or walk around the track as many laps as they can during the 30-minute class time. Parent volunteers tally laps completed on cards that students carry with them. There is music playing and the volunteers cheer on the students and everyone has a great time getting exercise.
Please visit our Jog-a-thon webpage to learn more.
2. Collect Box Tops and Campbell’s Labels
Thank you for helping support both of these fundraising efforts for Ridgewood School. Collection containers for these labels are in the school entryway OR in the recycling center in the cafeteria. Friends, neighbors, and relatives can all help support this program by submitting labels from products they already have in their homes. We receive 10 cents for each General Mills, Kimberly Clark, Johnson & Johnson, and other products’ box tops.
- Collect them in a Ziploc bag before bringing them to the collection box in the school lobby.
- Box Tops for Education – please cut the labels from your products and check expiration dates before submitting them. Please trim the Box Tops 4 Education emblem on the dotted lines.
- Campbell’s Labels – please cut out label portion that contains the bar code. Labels submitted must have bar codes in order to be accepted by the program
- Submissions of labels from Campbell products that do not have the bar code are NOT accepted by the program and are trash.
3. Company Matching
Did you know that you can double the money you contribute to the Ridgewood School PTC without it coming out of your pocket? Many companies have a corporate Charitable Matching Gift program, in which your contribution to the PTC is matched, dollar-for-dollar, by your corporation or its charitable foundation. Some companies even have matching programs for donations commensurate with the amount of volunteer time spent by their employees (e.g., if you work 10 volunteer hours for the PTC and report them to your volunteer matching program, your company will make a donation to the PTC based on these 10 hours of volunteered time).
See the company matching list.
Which companies match?
Most large companies and many small companies, both public and private, have matching gift programs. Examples include Cisco, Chevron, Clorox, Intel, Levi, Nike, Oracle, Sony, Travelers Insurance, Macy’s, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Toyota, Microsoft, Aetna, Washington Mutual, and many more.
How do I get my donation matched?
Ask your Human Resources Department if they have a Charitable Matching Gift program and/or grant program or look on your company’s website. If they do, then obtain a form from your company (many can be obtained online) and follow your company’s instructions. If you need a report documenting the hours you volunteered at Ridgewood, please log into HelpCounter and you can generate a report OR contact one of the Volunteer Coordinators if you need help. Volunteers must sign in on the volunteer computer in the school entry (HelpCounter) in order to have their hours documented. Please contact the PTC Treasurer if your company requires the PTC tax identification number on forms you need to submit.
4. Dine for Dollars/Restaurant Nights
A fun and delicious way to make money for our Ridgewood Community is “Retail Nights”. Keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to fundraise by patronizing a local restaurant. In the past we have had retail nights with family favorites like Pizzacato, Papa’s Pizza, Burgerville and Salvador Molly’s. Earn cash for the school while not having to cook for the night, pretty great! Find the dates of upcoming events in emails, this website, the newsletter, and bulletin boards. Yum!
5. Shop at Target
Target donates up to 1% of your purchases using the REDcard™. Designate Ridgewood in one of three ways:
- Visit www.target.com/tcoe
- Stop by the kiosk at any Target store
- Call 1-800-316-6142
6. Shop at Office Depot
Buy qualifying student school supplies at Office Depot and help Ridgewood receive 5% of your purchase in store credit for free school and office supplies. Simply give our Ridgewood ID #70084350 when you arrive at the cashier. You can also provide Ridgewood’s ID when purchasing on officedepot.com or placing an order at 1-800-GO-DEPOT. Buy supplies throughout the year, and Office Depot tallies credits for Ridgewood quarterly. More information on the program can be found here.
You can donate money via the Ridgewood PayPal account. The PTC is a registered 501(c)(3) and all or part of your gift may be tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please check with your tax advisor. [EIN #93-0741893]
The PTC also welcomes donations via check and many in-kind donations – please contact the treasurer for further information.
A fundraising program (separate and different from Scrip described above) that allows participating merchants to contribute a percentage of your purchases to Ridgewood in two ways:
- Register your grocery loyalty cards (Safeway), store credit cards, and debit cards on the escrip.com site with Ridgewood (#8566090). Ridgewood receives merchant contributions based on your purchases, using your registered cards. Purchases are tracked and available to you on the escrip.com site, so you can see how much your contributions add up!
- Shop at the www.escrip.com store, connecting to sites like Nordstrom, 1-800-Flowers, Expedia.com, etc. with your credit card, and Ridgewood receives a percentage of the purchases. Download the AutoTrack software program that tracks your purchases and contributions to Ridgewood. There is no additional cost to you, and you pay exactly the same as you normally would online. AutoTrack is always on when you start up your PC, and helps manage the contributions, even if you don’t visit the escrip.com site first.
9. Shop at Amazon.com
When you use this link to make your purchases on amazon.com, the PTC receives a referral bonus of between 4 and 8% of your purchase total. There is no cost to you as the purchaser and you can still use Amazon Prime, you can still use Amazon Gift Cards, you can do everything you have always done with amazon.com but Ridgewood students benefit!
Please note, you MUST use this link (or a bookmarked copy of this link) EVERY TIME you shop on amazon.com for Ridgewood to receive credit. This is not the same as the Amazon Smile program, which is a tad easier to use, but through which the PTC receives only 0.5% of your purchase price. This program (Amazon Affiliates), though a little more effort due to the need to use this link every time you shop, provides the PTC a much larger percentage of your purchases! Just save this link to your favorite browser and use it every time you shop at Amazon.com. You can also share this link with friends and family so 4-8% of their purchases also go to the Ridgewood PTC!
10. Eat at Red Robin
You can earn money for Ridgewood while eating at Red Robin! As part of the Burgers For Better Schools program, 1% of qualified sales from every check will get donated to Ridgewood Elementary School when you use your Royalty Card and have select Ridgewood Elementary School as your school of choice.
To register, go to betterschools.redrobin.com, login (or register), then search for “ridgewood 97225” and select Ridgewood Elementary School. That’s it! (They give you the option to also make a donation, which of course would be great but not necessary.) Please spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors – even if they want to donate to a different school, this is still a great opportunity for schools to get some “free money”!
We’re always looking for new fundraising programs that could benefit Ridgewood. If you have a fundraising program that can benefit Ridgewood and our children, let us know. Thank you for your support!
